I must say my logsplitter is working a dream, the wide wedge works great with the likes of thorn that tends to be a bit stringy, it is forced open to the point of splitting.
I would hate to have to go back to swinging a maul ... if you're having any problem making up your mind ... stop right now and get yourself a logsplitter ;-)

lol for sure the thought of going back to a maul is like a nightmare even thinking about. I just wish I would have got a splitter sooner. People say "aw its good for you to swing an axe, its manly", I say well it takes me like 1/4 the amount of time and my back feels great after and I still have what it takes to be a man! lol, thanks for the update.
Wood Splitter, having used mine to split this winters firing I can say this is the way to go ... I'm now splitting for winter 2010, I even had to buy a few new tarps to cover my firewood before the rains come ...
